ASC Management Team

The ASC Management Team is a comprehensive team of experienced and dedicated mental health professionals. It is ASC’s philosophy that quality treatment, delivered at the appropriate level of care, is not only clinically effective, but cost effective as well. Our providers are dedicated to ensure that every individual receives the services they require during the course of their treatment.

Michael D. Rosberg, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Rosberg has over 40 years of experience treating the refractory mentally ill in both inpatient and outpatient environments. Dr. Rosberg is a licensed clinical psychologist, a marriage and family therapist, and maintains a private practice specializing in the provision of evidence-based best practices for major mental illnesses, forensic assessment and personal development. Dr. Rosberg has been a presenter at multiple national conferences including the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) and the International Symposium for Psychotherapy and Schizophrenia. Dr. Rosberg has also consulted for mental health departments within 11 California Counties and provided input in the writing of a landmark bill addressing the provision of mental health services in California (AB1425) that was signed into law in 2002.

 

Chess Brodnick, Ph.D., LMFT

Dr. Brodnick has over 45 years experience treating clients with severe and chronic mental illness. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist with degrees in psychology from California State University Northridge, Pepperdine University and California Coast University. As a co-founder of the Anne Sippi Clinic and ASC Treatment Group, Chess assists clients daily on their road to recovery, employing innovative and proven techniques. His nationwide lecturing at NAMI National and University settings has provided professionals, students and families with valuable insight into the treatment of severe mental illness in community settings. It is Chess’s belief that ASC clients are living proof that recovery is “alive and well.”

Leora Brodnick, Ph.D., PT​

As Director of Recovery, Dr. Leora Brodnick specializes in the treatment of severely mentally ill and refractory clients. She received training in both psychology and nursing at UCLA, California Coast University and The Long Beach Neuropsychiatric Institute. Leora’s passion is helping her clients “unlock the person they were meant to be” in all facets of their lives, personalities and interests. She is dedicated to the idea that ASC community living is the setting where people can rediscover the joys of a meaningful life.

 

Ken Bagnis, MA, LMFT

Ken Bagnis is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, young adult author, speaker, consultant, and mental health advocate. In his clinical practice, Ken works with adults who present with a wide range of emotional stressors and complex mental illness. With over two decades of experience, Ken has helped to develop a unique continuum of care for the residents of the Anne Sippi Clinic. His focus is to help his clients to find their passion, discover their inner strengths, and to develop a unique path toward recovery and meaningful growth.

Alan Markie M.D, Medical Director

ASC’s commitment to providing evidenced based best practice extends to advanced and practical pharmacotherapy algorithms. Our Medical Director brings extensive experience in treating the severe and persistent mental illnesses. Dr. Markie graduated from medical school in the former Soviet Union in 1985. He completed an Internship in Psychiatry at UCLA in 1993 and 4 year residency in Psychiatry at UCLA in 1997. Dr. Markie has been practicing for the past 30 years in Los Angeles, being involved at many different levels of care for the severely mentally ill, including inpatient, outpatient, office based practice, community based programs, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and Intensive Outpatient Treatment Programs.

Nick Damian, C.O.O.

Mr. Nick Damian, Chief Operating Officer, joined ASC-TG in 2007, after a 20 year career in local hospitals. Mr. Damian has served as Psychiatric Service Manager, Service Director, and as Administrator of two, 65 bed hospitals in Bakersfield, California. 

“Nick”, is a Kern County native, and a Graduate of Kern County schools, as are his parents and children. “Seeing the person first”, has been a career-long objective for Nick. To this day, he requires that he and his staff of nearly 100, “find a way to say yes” to the clients and residents of ASC. 

Mr. Damian is a veteran of the Vietnam War and has been privileged to be married to his wife Mary Jane Damian for more than 50 years.

Nathan Petty, C.P.A.

Nathan acts as ASC’s chief financial officer. Nathan has more than thirty-five years of audit, tax and consulting experience. His role with ASC includes the implementation and monitoring of financial systems which help to ensure compliance with various contract provisions and the Company’s long-term financial success. Nathan works with the rest of the management team to ensure all resources are directed toward those whom we serve.  Mental health services require critical cost allocation.  To avoid a top heavy organization, Nathan is committed to directing resources to our valuable participants and mitigating the unnecessary costs traditionally associated with institutional services.

Ana Vincaprova, LVN. ASC-Riverside Ranch Nurse

Ana has been working with us since 2003, providing inspired assessment, medication review, case & dietary management, admissions and discharge planning, and physical healthcare management for our diverse population. In addition to holding a Bachelors degree in nutrition from Brazil/UNISINOS, Ana is a licensed LVN. Over the past 15 years Ana has been the driving force behind many of our nursing efforts and innovations. Ana works in partnership with our medical director in providing meaningful and holistic psychiatric nursing services. With her training in nutrition Ana has championed a disciplined approach, assisting our clients in navigating the complex services often required to enable their enduring recovery. 

Olga Recendez, Administrator ASC-Los Angeles

Olga has been with ASC – LA since 2008. Olga brings a wealth of life and practical experience to the position of administrator. Each and every day, Olga provides a deep and meaningful opportunity for our clients and staff. She oversees our administration, budgeting, offices and therapeutic programs. Olga brings meaning to the concept “hands-on” making sure that every client who receive services from us has a personal relationship with our administration. Olga blends her time between critical decision-making on an administrative level, and direct involvement with therapeutic programming. Olga has overseen improvements in our living environment, and the implementation of artistic and creative activities throughout the campus. Olga’s combination of practical wisdom, administrative skill, “thinking outside of the box”, compassion and energy serves to inspire us every day.

Edward Charles Fabello
Program Administrator

Eddie Fabello is the Program Administrator and Lead Program Manager for the ASC Treatment Groups innovative NoHo outpatient program. He helps to guide our strategic vision related to whole person care, encouraging Acceptance, Support, and Collaboration with all of our clients. He oversees administration matters and initiatives, community relations, and client programming. Eddie graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara and has worked to enhance client-centered programs throughout his 10+ years in the mental health community.

 

Eddie gracefully moves the ASC mission forward by holding staff in high esteem, elevating care excellence, and ensuring a partnership with our community, families, and clients. He has encouraged an open philosophy related to change management, working with staff and clients to review their past history and to promote receptivity to service and goal acquisition. He has charted collaborative pathways forward by navigating and reimagining program content and service delivery. Despite his administrative excellence, Eddie is a provider first caring for our clients on a personal basis, each and every day.

Laura Garza
Contracts Administrator

Laura has been working with the ASC Treatment Group since 2011. Laura has dedicated the last 17 years to working in mental health with the goal of helping to shape improvements in the quality of life for those who struggle with mental illness, never losing sight of client needs. Every day, Laura is helping to shape improvements of the quality of life for those who struggle with severe and persistent mental illness.   

 

Laura holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus in healthcare. Throughout her career, she has excelled in service provision, taking on multiple roles, including her most recent
contribution as the ASC Contracts Administrator and Outpatient Program manager in Kern County. As the outpatient program manager, Laura has built a dedicated team, who successfully provide whole person. care to our clients. Laura’s team excels in providing their clients with opportunities to better understanding mental health challenges, while maintaining high-quality services, in a hopeful, fun, and involving therapeutic environment.
